From September 28 to October 6, 2024, Kaathpencil, in partnership with BRAC, launched a tree-planting initiative focused on improving the environment and enhancing greenery in Barishal. As part of this project, 500 trees (250 mango and 250 neem) were distributed to various schools and public spaces across the district to contribute to environmental development.
Project Highlights:
Location: School grounds and public areas in Barishal, including Mofazzel Hossain Khan Girls’ High School, Town Secondary School, and Kirtonkhola Primary School.
Purpose: Support Barishal’s environmental development and promote a greener community by planting fruit and shade trees.
Community Engagement: Local schoolchildren and community members were encouraged to take part in the planting and care of these trees, fostering a deeper sense of responsibility and environmental awareness.
Challenges Faced: Some areas faced issues with unsuitable land conditions, and the availability of resources for regular maintenance was limited. Despite these challenges, our volunteers and partners worked tirelessly to bring this initiative to life.
Thank you to BRAC for providing the saplings and District Coordinator of borishal MD.Abu Sufian Shake and all volunteers and community members who participated. Together, we are making a meaningful impact on Barishal’s environment.
